Nathan Griffin

Mr. Griffin is in his first full year at Francis Howell Central High School. Before taking the job at Central he was the band director at Brentwood High School and served as percussion instructor at St. Charles West. Mr. Griffin is a 2004 graduate of the University of Missouri at Columbia. He earned a bachelor’s degree in music education and student taught in the Macon School District. At Francis Howell Central High School, Mr. Griffin directs the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Band, Pit for the school musicals, Spartan Regiment Marching Band, and A-Band (basketball band). He also assists with the Fall and Winter Drum lines.
Andy Messerli

Mr. Messerli attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois, where he studied music education and the euphonium. In 2006, he received his Bachelor of Music degree and took a position as band director at Casey Middle School in Mt. Vernon, IL. At the end of the year, he accepted a graduate assistantship at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. There, he was responsible for working with the Concert and University Bands, Wind Symphony, the Falcon Marching Band, the A-Band, assisting with conducting classes, as well as other duties as needed. After graduating with a Masters in Music Education, Mr. Messerli accepted his current position with the Francis Howell School District, where he is responsible for 6th grade piano, assisting with 6th grade band at Saeger Middle School, and assisting with Central High school bands.
Shannon Wilburn

Ms. Wilburn attended Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in May of 2004 in Music with an Instrumental Emphasis. Ms. Wilburn also completed a Master of Arts in Education degree at Truman State University in August of 2005. After graduation, Ms. Wilburn taught at Barnwell Middle School and Bryan Middle School for one year as their Assistant Band Director. In August of 2006, she accepted the position as Director of Bands at Saeger Middle School. The same year, she also joined the Spartan Regiment Marching Band staff where she serves as Assistant Marching Band Director. She is currently in her fifth year of teaching in the Francis Howell School District.
Jordan Anthony
Mr. Anthony has been a marching percussion instructor and clinician since 2000. Since graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2004, he has taught with St. Charles West HS, Brentwood HS and Francis Howell Central HS. In 1999, he performed with Tarheel Sun Drum & Bugle Corps from Cary, North Carolina, and in 2002, he was the Drumline Captain for Marching Mizzou.
Kate Anthony
Mrs. Anthony is now in her second year as one of two Color Guard Instructors for Francis Howell Central H.S. Over the past 10 years, she has instructed programs including: Brentwood H.S. , St. Charles West H.S. (with Melissa Hildebrand), Willard H.S., Bolivar H.S., & Missouri State University. She has also been a clinician at the Missouri State Bands Alive Summer Camp as both a Flag Instructor & Dance Instructor. Mrs. Anthony graduated Magna Cumma Laude from the Honors College at Missouri State in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Housing and Interior Design. While at Missouri State, she participated in The Pride of MSU Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, National Avenue Winter Gthe Fall Color Guard (Marching Banduard, The Pride of MSU Winter Guard, the Pridette Dance Line, Flute Ensemble, Sigma Alpha Iota, & Kappa Kappa Psi. She was also a member of the Dean’s List, Golden Key National Honor Society, Who’s Who Among College Students, Gamma Pi Alpha, Phi Eta Sigma, Kappa Omicron Nu, & was a Presidential Scholar. At Francis Howell Central, Mrs. Anthony works with both ) & the Winter Guard. At the completion of their Winter 2009 season, Mrs. Anthony, Miss Hildebrand, and the Francis Howell Central Winter Guard proudly brought home a 3rd place trophy from the MCCGA Championships in Springfield, MO, for their show entitled, “Crazy.” She has performed with the Husker Blue Knights Winter Guard (State Champion), National Avenue Winter Guard (2nd Place at MCCGA Championships), The Pride of MSU Fall Color Guard (BOA Grand Nationals Exhibition Group & 2001 Macy’s Day representative of Missouri), & The Pride of MSU Winter Guard (MCCGA Champion & WGI World Finalist). Mrs. Anthony has been a WGI World Championship Finalist performer 2 years (Independent A & Independent Open Classes) & helped take her Missouri State Winter Guard to WGI Semi-Finals in 2003. Kate & Jordan (Percussion Caption Head), have been happily married since May 2009, and have two Golden Retrievers: Lucy (4) and Violet (2).
Melissa Hildebrand
Alex Eckhoff
Alex is a four-year Spartan Regiment veteran. He has been playing percussion since he was 8 years old. While attending FHC, he marched both snare and tenors for the drumline. He holds the Mozingo percussion competition outstanding snare solo award for the '06 and '07 seasons. It was during his junior year that he marched under the instruction of the aforementioned Mr. Anthony. He currently attends Webster University where he majors in drumset jazz performance. He is very happy to be back at Central with this great and supportive staff for his first instructing season.
Missy Kelly
Missy started her music career in the Francis Howell School District and is excited to be back. She attended Truman State University for two years where she minored in music. At Truman, she also participated in the Statesman marching band, percussion ensemble, orchestra, concert band, Sigma Alpha Iota, and took private lessons. Also after high school, she started working with the Spartan Regiment starting in the fall of 1998 where she wrote, arranged music, and taught the pit. She returned to the area full time in 2000. In 2002 she graduated from Lindenwood University with her B.A. in Elementary and Special Education. She departed from FHC in 2003 and since then she has worked in the Fort Zumwalt School District for going on 7 years, had her two kiddos Cameron and Ryleigh, and received her M.A.E. in gifted education. She has worked briefly with the percussion programs at Parkway West and Francis Howell. Currently she is the accelerated education teacher at North Middle School in Fort Zumwalt. She is thrilled to be back at FHC and teaching one of her true passions, music!
